Do you want to live to a ripe old age?

Updated: Jul 26

Describe old age, write it on a piece of paper!

Your old age will depend very much on your answer because that is your mindset and belief in the moment and in this moment we are creating our future, this moment is the future of your earlier thoughts and beliefs.

We all started with a seed and if our younger life wasn't such a positive experience, we can understand how we got to where we are. We can change things at any moment but we need to become aware of our mindset towards things. So what is your mindset towards old age?

In the Blue Zones around the world People have lived to a ripe old age of over 100 years,

Dan Beuttner a National Geographic Explorer has extensively looked in to the principles that have allowed this to happen. He went to Sardinia in Italy, Icaria in Greece, Okinawa in Japan, Nicoya Peninsola in Costa Rica and Loma Linda in California, to see what it was that kept these people going.

The findings were quite simple and based on old principles that maybe we are losing in our modern world, which also explains why there are many other people who are unhealthy and suffering.

They are;

Purpose- faith- strong community- self care- natural movement involving connection to the earth like gardening and growing food and eating a plant based diet

From this Singapore has taken on a pro health system which is seeing great results and many areas in the USA.

From my experience it is an ancient practice, there are many cultures who have lived by these principles and passed them on through centuries and they are having a come back after many years of decline, how far can we fall?, the principles are actually laws of nature that we can't deny as life will always show us in some way.

In Ayurveda the way is longevity to be able to have as much time as possible to become one in total awareness of the self as part of everything, enlightenment.

From these principles we can be balanced, we have what we need, friends, support, laughter and help when needed, we are living in awareness of self but also social awareness and connection, as the tribes do, there is a social structure based on wholesome living.

This is why we have a decline in mental health because we have a collapsed social structure.

In all of this there is an opportunity, we can start to be what we would like to see more of, it is our self responsibility, to be self governing with self validation and self worth and bring that to the community as role models.

If we can do all of the above we will all live to a ripe old age! Wisely.
